vanessa
Name: Vanessa Kass

City/State: Wethersfield, CT

Career Rank: Stylist

Start Date: April 24, 2014

Who are you? (your background, what you do, and a little about yourself). Teacher by trade. State Department defector. PhD in the writing. Momma of 2 boys. Both gingers. Wife. Sister. Friend.

Why did you become a stylist?

Needed some extra income. It was this or an adult toy company. I chose wisely.

What has been your most exciting achievement in your business? I was able to leave my job at the SDE and know we would be fine.

If you could only share three tips with another stylist, what would you say?

1.The answer is always no unless you ask. Always ask.

2. I'm still scared. Daily. I make the calls anyway.

3. When you are afraid/embarrassed/unsure how to offer the opportunity (and you will be) - think of yourself. If this isn't a perfect match for you but it's done the amazing things. Don't count out the person for whom it also doesn't seem a good match. See #1 above.

What is your 2015 goal with Stella & Dot? Create a team of stylists that let me help the get their why. To give my team the same financial freedom and flexibility, love and life room they need in this crazy hamster wheel of doing and getting and needing,

What brings you the most #sdjoy in your business?

Right now? The opportunity that I see unfolding. Things are great but they are going to get awesome.

If you were an ice cream flavor, what would you be and why? The kind that tastes amazing but also dissolves cellulite. Because that's the type of ice cream I want to eat. If not, Oreo. Because, erm, it Has Oreos in it

Favorite place you've ever visited and why?

I am picking 2. 1.London. I lived there for 6 months against ,y parent's wishes. That was HUGE. That city is where I belong and started me on the journey to myself. If I could live there now, I would. 2. The Finger Lakes. Too many reasons to name. Suffice it to say, you can't walk five feet without hitting a winery with a tasting room.

Finish this sentence: When I was a little girl, I dreamed of being healthy and happy and free.

If you were a piece of Stella & Dot jewelry, what would you be and why? The mixed metal sutton. It's different and unexpected and interesting. Classic with a little edge. It can go out on the town or watch a movie on the couch. It seems pricey on the onset but is clearly worth every penny. Every. Penny.
