Fashion Friday: White Sneaks

It's #fashionfriday time and today I'm styling the always classic, never going out of style white converse! Now, you could switch these looks out with white Vans, with a classic pair of white Keds, or even all white Addidas. But, for me, my pair of white Converse are my jam. Plus, I can bleach these babies and have them looking brand new at the drop of a hat. And as an OCD mom of a toddler boy, that happens more often than I can count honestly.

OUTFIT #1: MOM LIFE

You will find me more often than not running around in a basic top/tee and shorts. It's my mom wardrobe. It's easy. And no one is seeing any of my private parts when I wear it. It's also VERY easy to wear a clean, classic tee/top and a clean, classic pair of shorts and appear put together instead of a holey-tee and shorts falling off showing your crack. Just sayin. Keepin it real up in here.

OUTFIT #2: BEACH CLUB

Now, I am not a member of a beach club. But will gladly utilize my friends who are. HA! In all seriousness, I own a good amount of Lilly. I love Lilly. I love a bright color, a pop of print, and the ability to stand out wherever I go. I grew up with Lilly. I think I had my first Lilly dress when I was six! Don't be afraid of the brightness of her prints and patterns. Embrace it. Plus, her fabric is SO comfy and this specific dress is like wearing a towel. Seriously.

OUTFIT #3: LOUNGING ON THE DECK

Now, I do have a deck. And, I often lounge on it. And, this StitchFix find from years back is still my favorite coverup to date. Slap on some cute sneaks and I'm ready to roll.

OUTFIT #4: LEAVE ME ALONE

Need I say more. My shirt says enough. Amusement park, theme park, Walmart on a crowded afternoon, or sitting outside watching my son blow bubble and color with sidewalk chalk, you'll see me in this.

OUTFIT #5: LOOKING PUT TOGETHER

A denim skirt is a must have item in every woman's wardrobe. I prefer a classic-distress wash to feel more casual but keeping the pencil cut to be able to dress up easily. Talbots always carries one which is my go-to. This hat was a fab find on the streets of Charleston a number of years ago but JCrew has a great one for under $20.

Thanks for joining me yet again for Fashion Friday. I hope you're enjoying this. It's been a blast to pull things out of my closet I have honestly forgotten about. AND it's getting me outside of my comfort zone helping y'all style items I wouldn't normally wear.

If there's something you'd like to see me style, with items I already own because I'm not shopping for 2019 (in case you didn't know that, check out the deets here) just leave a comment below OR come find me over on the Insta

Stay tuned for next week!

2019: A Year of BIG Change

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have already seen this. But, I’m putting it out here to y’all in hopes for accountability and a safe place to share 😊 and, I’d love to know your honest thoughts! So leave me a comment below if you're so inclined...

2019 starts today and I’ve taken some time to reflect on what I want to accomplish personally in the new year. My top nine of 2018 show that people like to see real life on Instagram. No filters, no nonsense, just peeks into our real life. Me being me and us being us.

So, that is my IG goal for 2019. Giving you a peek into my/our REAL life. I do not filter my pictures. I do not “pose”. I do not use a professional photographer to shoot my outfits. What you see is what you get, the real me. The real us. I will also transfer that here, to my blog, with a goal of being more present here.

While 2018 was a huge accomplishment for me with a resolution (a picture of myself every day for 365 days as a daily reminder that turning 40 is awesome) I do not have a resolution to share daily in 2019. I can’t take the personal pressure of that 😂🤷🏼‍♀️

My 2019 resolution is to be more present, which means less technology. More books. More memorable moments. More play. My son starts preschool this year so it’s my last bit of time to relish being home and being in the moment with him. And I want to maximize those moments.

I have decided to join Meg Hall in her #noshop19 challenge as well as Kari Montgomery in her #cultivatingacontentcloset challenge for 2019. I do not plan on shopping for the year for myself. Writing that SCARES me. BUT I am allowing myself one clothing item and one accessory at the end of the month provided I made it the whole month without a random purchase, should I choose to take advantage of it. I will also be fully cleaning and purging my entire house throughout 2019 and have a goal of one box/bag leaving my home each week. Yep- 52 boxes/bags leaving in 2019.

Putting this out to the internet world kind of scares me and frightens me but makes it more accountable that I know others are watching. I plan to do a lot of outfit planning on Instagram to maximize the pieces I do have and will use this space to keep track of that as well as share the process in getting to the dream closet/wardrobe I have envisioned in my head that seems so far from reality.

Thanks for reading and for joining me on this ride. Let’s do it 2019! #naomisclosetchallenge

Friday Favorites: My Go-To Wardrobe PIcks

So, lately, I tend to be drawn to some pieces on repeat. Do you get like that? Ok good, I'm not alone.

Here's my most recent pieces I'm grabbing:

1. Target furry mules

Laugh all you want, these shoes are ALL they're cracked up to be. And a fraction of the price of the Gucci ones. Honestly, I feel more put together when I'm wearing them, even though they look like slippers.

2. American Eagle Tomgirl jeans

These are SO far OUTSIDE of my preppy comfort zone but I don't care because they're THAT comfortable. They feel like pajamas but they're jeans. I know, hard to believe, but SO true.

3.  Gap plaid scarf

This style is new this year and Gap scarves usually itch me (I have crazy sensitive skin with fabrics) and I had been hunting for a fun tartan plaid BIG scarf, but not blanket scarf. And this one I scored during their friends and family sale for under $20. That's as good as Target, maybe even better!

4. My Rothy's, specifically my yellow ones.

Now, if you've been around for a while, you know I'm obsessed with them. Presently I own 6 pair and am waiting for new colors to snag lucky number seven. But this pair gets worn the MOST. Not sure why, maybe yellow just makes me happy?!

5. Vivian Drew earrings

Yes, I sell Stella & Dot. But I wear ALL kinds of jewelry and accessories and these are just perfection. I have 3 different pair of earrings by her and just love them all.

Favorite Outfits

This week we've been incredibly busy and I share a daily outfit pic over on Instagram but figured I'd highlight my favorites from this week as people have been asking where to snag some of the pieces!

We took family photos this week with my good friend, Jamie Morel, and I decided to wear a pop of color. Just a little out of my comfort zone but worth it. I forget how happy this dress makes me. And while it's a few years old, Zara seems to make classic yet trendy pieces that can stand the test of time!

Zara dress / Sam Edelman heels / JCrew necklace / Stella & Dot earrings

When we hit up Fair Weather Acres this week, we had a little bit of a preppy feel going on I think. Ha! Would you agree?! These jeans I L-I-V-E in and cannot get enough of them. The interior waistband is elastic. Mom dream right there! And it was a bit chilly so I was finally able to bust out my favorite JCrew plaid scarf cape!

JCrew striped tee / JCrew plaid scarf / Wit and Wisdom jeans / Cole Haan driving mocs
Janie & Jack vest / Gymboree tee / Gymboree pants / Target shoes

Do you ever find a piece of clothing in your closet that you totally forgot about and as soon as you put in on you ask yourself why you never wear it?! That is THIS piece for me. It's forever old from Ann Taylor but the belt sash adds a little something extra. Paired with white jeans and my Tory flats it's simple and classic for our family brunch date! And how fun are these VivianDrew earrings?!

When your two-year-old is becoming good at taking pictures, you let him snap pictures of you! We were out and about running errands and he snapped this one of me in my new favorite Stella & Dot top! How fun are the sleeve details?!

When you have a friend who lives 90 minutes away but you MUST see her often, you meet up halfway and visit different restaurants for lunch with your sidekick. This week, we went to Terrain in Westport and it is DIVINE. How cute are his crocs?!

Sometimes I put on an outfit and feel confined and other times I put on an outfit and feel exceptionally comfortable. That is this outfit right here. Running errands in 80 degree heat, hitting up the park, and prepared to get down and dirty with a toddler means a tee and jeans. The American Eagle tomgirl jeans are LIFE. I promise.
And if you want 20% off your own American Eagle jeans, click here. My gift to you!

Tee / Jeans / Sandals

And lastly, I never have any fun. I swear. I mean, look at my face. I look bored, right?! Ha ha! I got to spend some time this week with some of my Stella & Dot friends at a training and I figured why not be a pop of color in a room of neutrals!

Cardigan / Blouse / Jeans / Camo flats / Belt

I think it's safe to say I cover all bases in my "mom wardrobe", right?! I mean, I've got comfy cozy down pat, a pop of color here and there, a dress when needed, but always ready to chase my little guy around while being somewhat stylish with a smile!

Love Loft

I will be the first person to admit Loft wasn't a big store for me a long time. I felt it was very "mommish" and I wasn't really dressing "like a mom". But BOY have they changed!

I started to creep in a little when they started the collaboration with Lou & Grey and the whole 'athleisure' trend started to take over.

Then, it started to get more preppy yet trendy without being overbearing.

So here we are today, overshopping and loving everything I put on. Whoops!

Neutrals, neutrals, neutrals, and more neutrals. I was looking for staples for my fall wardrobe, pieces that could mix and match easily, and pieces that would get me a good bang for my buck.

First up, this striped Lou & Grey sweatshirt dress. Runs SMALL. As in, I am wearing an XS. That's right folks, this is an EXTRA SMALL. I wear a size 12 petite usually. Hence that smile right?! Totally bought this one. Plus the inside is a sweatshirt material too!

Sale rack find! For $9 why not?! This blue romper simply ties in the back so getting naked to go to the bathroom is pretty easy versus those annoying snaps and hook-closures.
It's not available online anymore, but this one is cute and on crazy sale!

Not only do I take selfies of what I love but also a giant effing disaster. This jumpsuit was just that, a disaster. It was huge and baggy and long and just a NO on me.

You're gonna want to live in this dress people. Trust me. And if you see me in it every day, don't judge me. It's the same as the striped one above. If you love it, why not get every color, right?!

I wanted to love this top. The back has ruffles down over the butt and on the sides. But sadly, just no shape on me. Maybe for an average or tall person!

This blush sweater vest was on crazy sale and while I liked it, I couldn't figure out what I'd wear it with. Plus, it was a bit sheer for me. So tell me, what would you wear it with?!

I've seen 1,000 blogers on IG wearing this turtleneck poncho sweater saying YOU HAVE TO HAVE IT. I don't get it. It's like a giant house. Yeah, it's comfy and cozy but what else?!

I was unsure about this camel sweater cardigan with my skin tone but after multiple people saying it's a MUST, I caved and got it. I'm glad I did. Classic simple and how do I not have a camel cardigan yet?

The first item on my list of what I went in for was a new white sweater cardigan. I had a cream one I wore often but retired that bad boy last year. This is a bit of a thicker sweater material so it'll be great for fall and winter. I wanted more of a winter white vs cream and this baby was a winner!

The lapel cardigan was a great style and super flattering but as I stood in the dressing room admiring it, I kept thinking I had something similar, almost identical. It's a good weight, not too heavy, and the contrasting collar is fun. I was good and a grown up and passed on it. But someone needs to get it!

Are you a Loft shopper?! I was fortunate enough to spend my morning with some other local bloggers for a private shopping event at the Loft in Evergreen Walk. I cannot encourage you enough to check out their new fall collection. It's flattering, affordable, versatile, and works for ALL shapes and sizes!
